Pyre Studios Demos

Pyre Studios will be running 15-20 minute taster demos of most of the lines they carry. These demos give you a grasp of the basic mechanics from which the full rules are based.  Just walk up and give them a poke if they are not running a demo. If they’re already on the job or if you are attending any of the events you can always book a demo slot for later on that day or the next.

Skrimish Wargames

  • World of Twilight: Think of a Dark Crystal/Fraggle Rock mix with a hint of steampunk.
  • Mercs: Detailed small unit sci-fi combat. No points, all tactics, max of 5 minis needed.
  • Warlands: The best bits of all 3 Mad Max films meshed with Car Wars and Dark Future
  • Heavy Gera Arena:  Mecha WWF… Seriously, go look at the cover of the box.

Boardgames

  • Paint Brawl: Fantasy paintball boardgame available exclusively at Conpulsion
  • Incursion: Nazi Super Science meets Diesel powered Terminators in this WWII boardgame
  • Elfball: The other, other Fantasy football board game…

Darren assures us that it will be very difficult not to fall for the World of Twilight, though he asked us to make it clear that there are no members of the L’Oreal Undead involved.

More Mobile Frame Zero pictures & Kickstarter news

Mobile Frame Zero: Rapid Attack is designed to be playable with two to five players, each fielding a company of mobile frames of different strengths. The game keeps tension high by making sure that no player ever quite has enough frames, equipment, or time to be a sure thing. In fact, the player in the strongest points position to win is the player with the weakest company; if you expect to fight from a difficult position, be ready to run away and come back in another round!

Play starts with the doomsday clock set to 11. Every turn, it ticks down by one automatically. At 0 the game ends. But adding to that is the possibility that each player can mark it down faster. If you’re winning, you’ll mark it down every round. If you think you’ll be winning this round, you’ll mark it down. Players never really know how soon the game will end until the very end.

Rules are tightly tied to the frames themselves. Every frame has its own two white dice, then has added to it up to four subsystems. Those systems help the frame move, attack at one of three ranges, defend themselves, and observe & communicate. When a frame takes damage, it takes damage by losing those systems.

Play takes between 2.5 and 4 hours, depending on the age and number of players. Eager 10-year-olds seem to grasp the game well, but it offers a constantly flowing sea of tactical options to more experienced players.

Chaos of the Warp is coming to Conpulsion 2012!

No Pre Registration available

Chaos of the Warp (CotW) is a new Warhammer 40K tournament group based in Scotland, which organises and runs regular good-humoured tournaments for players of every level to test their skills against different armies. The games are not about perfect paint jobs, they are about fielding what you can and showing others that you have a force which can survive the onslaught of everyone/everything else in the galaxy!

40K Action

At Conpulsion 2012, CotW will be running games all weekend. Join Chaos of the Warp on Facebook if you want to ensure a space. There will be a few tables set up for pickup games, but it’s best to try to confirm in advance to avoid disappointment.

The group will also be running game demos, so that those unfamiliar with the game mechanics can get the idea, and also meet friendly players who can assist them in their future gaming career. Group members will also be taking bookings for future CotW events, so that if players like what they see they can get involved in future events and happenings…
If that were not busy enough, Geoff & the boys will be recording throughout the weekend for their new Podcast launching in April- so even if you are not into 40K, but have a product or service which could contribute to the hobby, please feel free to come and speak to the boys about introducing yourselves and advertising in this forum.

Chaos of the Warp is a new enterprise in Scottish gaming, but its members are excited, enthusiastic and keen to contribute to the gaming community, not tread on any toes! Join the Chaos – meet us at Conpulsion 2012 or Join us on Facebook (search for ‘Chaos of the Warp’) or email me (Geoff Nicholson) at g_nicholson@live.co.uk or chaosofthewarp@hotmail.co.uk.
